P3D New web page.
Hi,
I've been putting up some images on a new web page and thought you all
might want to take a look. I'm hoping you can help me do some detective
work as well. The address is:
http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Falls/8988/
The detective part involves the first image on the France page. It was
taken in 1997 at the Louvre and there is a dark-haired fellow at the
base of the staircase with a white short sleeve shirt holding blue
jacket. I 'm sure you'll be able to find him in the image. He was
looking directly at the camera.
Several minutes after I took this shot he walked over and made some
comments about stereo photography, which surprised me because usually
people don't have a clue what my Realist is about. He said that he knew
about it because his father-in-law did a lot of stereo photography.
When I asked his father-in-law's name it was a name that I recognized,
though now I've forgotten it. So the only two possibilities I can
think of was that it was either a name I knew from this list or it was
someone who was active in the folios. Maybe you will recognize your
son-in-law in the picture.
I'd be interested in any comments you might want to share regarding the
usability of these images for your particular viewing style and the
quality (or lack thereof) of the mounting. I used the Stereoscope
applet. There aren't any .jps links provided because geocities
evidently won't allow 'unknown' file types.
These are the first images I've tried to 'mount' for computer viewing so
I'm not sure of that either. I parallel view with a lorgnette, and they
look fine that way to me but I wonder if there are any special things to
watch for those who view as anaglyph. It seems to me that there might
be too much deviation to view comfortably that way.
I plan to add many additional images as time permits, so check back once
in a while. If you do have comments that you send to the list please
cc to me as well since I am sometimes behind on reading the digests.
Thanks
David
