  He's right, When I first saw the image come up they definitely 
didn't look like dirty, ugly steps!  I knew who ever submitted this
image was playing games with "something" but I wasn't sure, they
had me stumped!  So I shook out of my mode of trying to figure out 
the technique and into "what is the score for this image".  I rated it
pretty high as I recall because of the composition and the stark contrast
of the shadows and effect of (what I now know) the steps.  In pseudo, the
steps appeared to be very deep, diagonal gouges in a vertical wall.  Almost
as if you were looking at a close-up of a stone column which had been 
threaded like a huge screw.  I knew this wasn't the case but again, I couldn't 
figure out just what it was so it got high marks for creativity.  The exposure 
was right on, for having the very white cement and the dark of the shadow
laying across the image.  I really like it when images like those show up 
every so often.  It's so refreshing!  Nice work George.
