Just a comment that although the two lenses are focussed for
different points, it isn't as if only those points are
in focus.  Written as DOF's they would look much more similar
than might otherwise seem.  (Except perhaps for a pushing-the-edge
situation with wide open lenses and near object at the close-in's
focus spot -- but w/the slow shutter, it's likely to be stopped
down, especially with today's films).

I don't recall the focus distances off hand, although I had
posted that info a couple years ago.  But it was something
like "far" and "further" rather than one at 5 feet and the
other at infinity. 

Can eyes accomodate slightly different focus between
eyes?  As food for thought, I know my contact
prescriptions are different for each eye and if I get 
my contacts backwards,I really don't notice a big difference.

I'm not sure that the graphic's "trick" is all that much
of a wonderful winner-idea, but I'm also not sure it's any
worse than just fixed-focus lenses set to the same distance.
