P3D Dial M at Film Forum

The upcoming dual-strip projection of "Dial M for Murder" at the Film
Forum in NY is an opportunity to see this classic as it should be seen -
unlike the screening at last summer's NSA meeting in Richmond. The
brightness, overall sharpness and freedom from spurious images should be
a revelation. I had previously seen "Charge at Feather River" and
"Phantom of the Rue Morgue" at the Film Forum, and the projectionist did
an outstanding job. Unfortunately, the prints did not have the original
stereophonic soundtracks.

Contrary to what is often stated, "Dial M" was widely shown in 3-D when
it was first released. If I recall, it was shown throughout the New York
City area at almost all neighborhood theaters in 3-D. (I saw it at
Skouras' Jackson Theater in Jackson Heights, one of at least 3 theaters
in that neighborhood that regularly screened 3-D features.)
