With fine grained film I find the projection quality quite acceptable.
The projector wasn't designed to  project an image larger than 50x50.

The only way I can think of is to use an SLR with a bellows on a copy
stand. If a pin is mounted on the board so that the reel can be spun
around it, it well be easy to keep it in register. Cut a hole in the
board to shine a light source through.
