P3D Question about "Dial M for Murder"

While having dinner with my father last night I mentioned that the
Film Forum was going to be showing "Dial M for Murder" in its original
3D format.  His reaction was that someone is re-writting history
because he saw "Dial M for Murder" during its original release in NYC
(at several theaters) and it was not 3D.  He had seen "Bwana Devil"
(and a couple of other movies) in 3D and was also surprised when I
mentioned that "Creature from the Black Lagoon" was 3D.

Was "Dial M form Murder" (or "Creature from the Black Lagoon") shown
in 3D in only a limited number of theaters during its initial release?
