A fabulous public service from Dr T, as he often has done.
Even if this list finds a home on some site, it would be a nice periodic
posting to P3D, as happens with P3D subscription/unsubscription
instructions and general announcements about SSA, NSA, club meetings,
competitions, etc.

I think the real meaning of this is that when a very small number of
persons go on at great length in increasingly fine detail on some narrow
aspect of stereoscopic art or science that assumes prior knowledge not
likely shared by the majority of subscribers, then they are perhaps acting
in poor taste, and they may be advised of this by a duly appointed
moderator, and persistence in such insensitivity may in rare cases warrant
a direct request that they adjourn to private e-mail or perhaps a more
narrow list, if appropriate.
It does *not* suggest to me that there are stereo topics which are
therefore inherently taboo on P3D, or deserving of quick removal
regardless of length, tone, and level of participation. I was especially
troubled last year to see the sentiment offered that anything with "math"
in the subject line arguably belongs on T3D. The writer may not have
meant to be as arbitrary as that, but the notion it suggests is appalling
to me. If the level of complaint on-list is what will determine which
topics are singled out for frequent expulsion, then I will commence to
prepare my list of the topics which bore me to tears - but it is against
my instinct to do this in anything but last-ditch self defense. (Were I
inclined to do that, I might for instance suggest that any topic which is
mainly about camera & projector technical specifications and repair
belongs on some list called Hardware3D or Tinker3D or even T3D. But I
would be very wrong.)
Please, let the scope of the general list be based on unbiased inclusion,
and not the volume of complaint heard from implacable minorities or
domineering majorities. And if this *isn't* the forum for all
stereoscopic topics, we need one that is.
My last meta-word, I promise.
Bruce
