Just a quick note to thank Dr.T,   Larry Berlin,
Sid Herbage and Mike Canter (who sent a very
detailed response off-line) for their advice.
It really is wonderful to feel part of a community
of shared interest and endeavour, where people
take the time to support and advise each other.

I have started building Sid Herbage's home made
copy stand, and intend to try both "traditional"
(photogaph the originals) and "computer aided"
 (scan the originals then photograph
the screen) approaches.
