Hi all,

I just got finished spending 15 minutes wandering my department here at
work.

Why was I wandering? Well, I have recently finished a test card for the
view I paln to use in the next APEC III (
http://www.dddesign.com/3dbydan/apec ) exchange. It is a hyper stereo
shot of Pike's Peak framed by the Gateway to the Garden of the Gods. It
is one of many "Now" pictures I have been taking that are modern
equivalents of 100 or so year old "Then" 3D views of this part of
Colorado. (Someday that whole project will become another 3D-CD.) The
view is a color version of the stuff in this print:

This is not the picture I showed, and is only shown to give you an idea
of what the people who have seen it were getting to see.

So, back to why I was wandering. I brought in my stereoscope and the
view, and showed it to everyone who was interested. I go the full range
of comments from simple "neat..."s to "WOW!!!" and "AMAZING!" - etc.
There are several reasons for doing this. One, I got to tell people how
I do it when they ask the logiccal questions, and pose their theories of
how you do it. Two, I got to see if others would like the view as much
as I do which is important because I have really liked views in the past
that others have not. And three, it's just nice to have people tell you
how good your stuff is! ;-)

So, why am I telling you this... It's an encouragement to show what you
do in 3D to those around you. They will listen to how you do it, and
most of the time be fascinated by it. Some will even be spurred to try
it. =) Give it a shot. You will be amazed how receptive people can be.
They are amazed that two prints developed at a local lab, mounted to a
simple card could produce such a response as when they viewed it.

Go ahead - give it a try!!! \\|// \\|//
