The problem is not lack of Java support. If Java were not enabled, the
applet would do nothing at all, not malfunction.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that it is totally obnoxious
for an applet or program to misbehave so badly? Proper behavior would
be for it to check if it has the required support, and simply post a
message if it doesn't, or at the very least, refuse to run. NOT fill
the screen with garbage making it difficult to kill. Honestly, the
first time it happened I thought my computer had been infected with a
virus! This is poor programming.
