P3D Ghosting

As Dr. T correctly explained, ghosting takes place on projection of very 
contrasty slides.  The effect can be mitigated through the use of the 
horizontal adjustments on the projector.  It may be a pain in the rear, and 
sacrilegious to those who believe in no fiddling with the controls, but it 
works.
