P3D Viewer for uncut Realist-format film?

I remember learning at one point that somebody makes a viewer that can be
used with uncut Realist film.  That would seem like a great boon to me!
Not only do you not have to worry about mounting problems, but you could
advance through the roll without having to stop and change slides for every
image.

I'm sure this is too good to be true, and that there are some drawbacks to
this, but I don't know what they are.

Anybody know anything about this?  Are these still being made/sold?  How
are the optics?
