Your TDC 116 can handle 40x40 mm viewing area...
Let's make sure we understand what you are looking for.... In all your
numbers you quoted something that starts with 23 mm. Is that the
height of your portrait image? Then you could use the existing 41x101
mounts in a portrait configuration. For example, use a close-up Spicer
mount or any of the older EMDE or Realist close-up mounts (note: avoid
the so called 4p or Nimslo mounts because these are cropped in the
height.) Or you would use two aluminum mounts with "double masking",
i.e. slide one over the other to crop the image, to create a portrait
configuration of any size you wish.
But, if what you want is to extend to the 23 mm height of the mount
then you don't have any option other than the hacking you talked about.
The problem with the Realist format mount is that it is limited to
41 mm height. You need a few mm from each side to support the chips
so we are left with, say, 30 or so mm to work with. I doubt that
Spicer would create dies for a new mount, unless if it was a good
demand for it.
