P3D RE: View-Master Personal Stereo Reel Mounts

I received a couple of questions on the View-Master Personal Reel Mount
production schedule, and thought I should explain it in a little more
detail.

Fisher-Price has decided to end production of the View-Master Personal
Reel Mounts this year. They informed their regular buyers of this and
asked them how many reels they would need in the next 5 years. They then
made this total is the final production quota, which will be made in the
next few months. Once the quota is met, the production equipment will be
permanently retired. If the equipment breaks down before the quota is
met, the equipment will not be repaired and production ends.

The regular buyers do not have to purchase their 5 year's worth of reels
now, but can continue to purchase them as needed. However, the sales are
first come, first served (cash in hand), so any of the regulars who do
not purchase all of their intended orders at once are competing with
anyone else who wants to buy them in the months to come. Since there
will also be non-regular buyers purchasing reels, the entire stock will
certainly be depleted in less than 5 years. How much less is hard to
say, but I am guessing 2 to 3 years.

I have missed out on the "last of" several stereo photo products because
I wasn't aware that they would no longer be available, and I would hate
for this to happen again with the VM reels. Several people have already
asked to be included in the order that I will be making in a week or
so.  If anyone else is interested, please contact me off list.
