 The new Nikon 950 (which I've had on order for more than a month
 and still waiting... ) is supposed to do decent long exposures.
 
 It doesn't have a cable release, but has 28mm filter threads. Not
 terribly common, but there are rare occurrences of 28mm filters.
 Adapters for a more standard size are available.
 
 No I don't have two on order -- and technically it'll be my
 wife's camera.  :-)
