I've been experimenting a lot with "neg --> slide" in Realist format, mostly 
in studio shoots. I've found that (as I think someone on this list suggested) 
over-exposing the neg film by about half a stop helps when the transfer is 
made to slide film. But you're right: it isn't anywhere near as good (as far 
as I'm concerned) as straight slide shots.
