Back after a few weeks I'm reading up and was amazed by this
discussion thread. Haven't stereo pointers existed from the 
beginning of stereoprojection? Probably not, but I have seen 
several ones even before laser pointers were common,
made with two of the old pointers which projected an arrow on 
the screen, some simply made by taping the pointers together,
allowing some angular movements, two pola filters before them 
of course. 
Because holding the device requires a very steady hand 
(twisting gives depolarisation, pointing at something too
close gives pseudo effects) I remember someone who mounted 
the device on a tripod.
