Dexter is Latin for right. Sinister is Latin for left. You will
sometimes see on an eyeglass prescription the notation

OD for oculus dexter or right eye
OS for oculus sinsiter or left eye
OU for oculus uterque or both eyes

Ortho might mean perpendicular or it might be Greek. Although I see
several references to a french ortho in the dictionary.
