P3D Pure Anaglyphs- Definition?

Hi,

I've enjoyed using the Stereoscope applet as well as the other viewing
programs for viewing stereo pairs, but I have one question.  I see color
anaglyph, grey scale anaglyph mentioned, but most of these programs also
include an option for a pure anaglyph.  It usually appears somewhat
rosy.  What are the differences?  I've looked at all the usual sources
and haven't found an answer.
