P3D Fuji Film

I was interested in Paul Talbots comments on Fuji Film. What is the
relationship of grain to resolving power? The Velvia seems to have the
highest resolving power, but as Paul pointed out not as fine a grain
size as the new Provia RDPIII whose resolving power appears to be less
than the Velvia. Somehow I thought that the ultimate resolving
potential of a film was related to grain size directly?

Personally,I have not seen anything that seems to be as good at
producing truly sharp pictures as the Velvia. The speed of the film is,
of course, restricting, and a tripod seems to be essential for the very
best results.
