There is a paper that has been floating around on the Web about this
subject as well (and it may be easier to obtain for some than a back
issue of Stereo World). The title is "High-Speed Flash Photography For
Amateur Photographers" and the author is Loren M. Winters. A few
minutes with a search engine ought to turn up a URL; my copy is,
unfortunately, on paper and I didn't record the source.
It includes several different schematics for constructing sound
triggers, piezoelectric triggers, tape recorder triggers, contact
triggers, etc. with parts lists and sources.
