I would think this is a problem with the spacing of the film gates
rather than the lenses per-se. I have a vm camera in pieces here
and the film gates are formed by the open ends of small rectangular
boxes (with the lens at the opposite end). These boxes are
constrained to move vertically by circular guide rails to put the
lenses in the 'B' positions during film reversal.
None of the arrangement appears to be adjustable for transverse
spacing as far as I can see. Moreover the ends of the boxes
move in fixed apertures on the body and although there is a
small clearance, it wouldn't allow for much adjustment.
I don't know what the normal production tolerances on image
spacing are likely to be but I would have thought that 0.03"
(1/32) would be possible and I'd have thought it could be
consumed by the overlap of the reel aperture.
