P3D VM personal camera problem

Would you be confusing the unexposed black areas on the left of the left
image and the right of the right areas with an alignment problem. The
camera exposes a square image but the cutter cuts an oval, with a little
extra black film on the outer edges of the image. This area is masked
off by the reel mount. Make sure you align the film properly in the
cutter. There should be a strip of black film on the inner edges of both
images. When transposed these will be the outer edges. I would say it is
more like an 1/8 in. black strip though. Don't try to center the images.
I see no way the image distance can be adjusted in the camera as the
lenses ride up and down in a single piece of cast metal.
