When Harry Poster talks, I listen. :-) Harry Poster had been
an institution in the area of buying/selling 3d. It is hard
to imagine an NSA convention without Harry Poster. I remember
seeing Harry in my first NSA convention in 1988 and being
impressed by this young & energetic seller, surrounded by
anxious buyers...

NSA conventions have traditionally worked around the TRADE SHOW
and the concepts of buying/selling/trading. Many people still
go to these conventions just to buy or sell stereo goods. Why
would people get there on Wednesday or Tuesday or even Monday,
when the convention does not officially start until Friday?
(or on Thursday afternoon as of recent years).

What Harry is saying is true and should be of concern to buyers
and sellers and NSA. The trend today is to sell things
on-line. Harry talked about not finding a variety of goods
because they end up on line. But the same applies for him as
a seller on-line.

The bottom line is that the emphasis is shifting and stereo
enthusiasts and NSA must be aware of this. If you are going
to NSA just to find "bargains", better thing twice about it,
thanks (or "no thanks") to trading on-line. NSA, apparently
is on tuned with this trend, as witnessed by the shifting of
the focus to other activities, as for example the recently
introduced "Workshops". Also, the nature of the Trade Show
is changing. You used to be able to find stereo enthusiasts
selling "personal goods", like a giant 3d flea market. Lately
you see more and more of companies and products that you can buy
on-line or through mail order. One less incentive to go just
to buy.
