Consider affordable automatic SLRs. Two reasons:
1. better lenses
2. availability of electronic cable releases you can splice together to synch the
two cameras.
When I was shopping for P&S twin-rig camers only Ricoh had the simple plug in
electronic cable releases. I don't think even Ricoh uses them any more.
I've got _four_ Ricoh FF20 zooms (P&S cameras) I use for twin-rigs. They have
electronic cable releases I've spliced together, with good synchronization for
non-flash pictures. But for anything that needs a flash -- indoors or fill in --
the synch works poorly. Maybe 25% of the time. So I end up using a Realist for
anything not outdoors at noon. $16 a roll for print processing.
APECs Jim Norman has twinned Cannon Rebels, which judging from his APEC prints,
have way better lenses. The two cameras cost about the same. Jim's spliced
together the cable releases and says his hit rate is in the 90%+ range (If i
remember right).
