P3D View-Master construction fault(?)

I admire the View-Master engineers highly for their whole VM system. It
is very clever! The more remarkable is the following:
I availed in a short period many many VM stereoscopes and am busy with
giving them a good place. I checked the working of them and discovered
something remarkable: on rather many stereoscopes with METAL handle the
2 windows are mis aligned caused by the fact that the METAL handle cuts
a bit into the plastic or bakelite (model E) which stops this handle. 
The stereoscopes with an all plastic handle does not have this fault. 

I should like to repair this nicely especially in case of the rarer
types but I think that is quite a job.
