P3D Re: For sale prices
IMHO, using eBay to establish a market price is fine. It is a source of
information that covers a wide range of the population purchasing the
products listed by George.
Another source of information would be the sell-3D digests, of which I
have several available. For the Colorist II, I found...
Digest 470 Colorist $150.00
Digest 818 Colorist $150.00
Digest 486 Colorist II $230.00
Digest 514 " $195.00
Digest 556 " $200.00
Digest 661 " $180.00
Digest 718 " $325.00
for an average of $226.00 for the Colorist II. So, the eBay price found
by Ernie actually was a bit low based on the above information.
For the Nimslo, I had 35 "hits", most of which were people who WTB a
Nimslo. However, the sales information is as follows...
Digest 444 Nimslo package $125.00
Digest 461 Nimslo camera $ 62.00
Digest 628 Nimslo package $ 90.00
Digest 566 Teco-Nimslo $175.00
Digest 586 above reduced $165.00
Again, it appears that the average price, $92.33, is higher than the
average eBay price found. Of course, two of the three were a package
deal including the camera, case and flash where the eBay offerings may
not have included these items.
I may do this study with Realist and Kodak just to get an idea of how
sell-3d stacks up against eBay. I have to admit I have seen 3D items on
eBay go for what I consider outrageous prices. However, it appears that
the two lists aren't as far off as many have thought. At least for the
above two items.
Hope this helps,
Ron
P.S. As for the comment "not everyone has an internet computer", my
experience has been that the majority of people on this list have
internet access along with their email capabilities. I find it
difficult to believe that someone would only have an email account from
an ISP. I suppose it's possible though.
On establishing value, taking the average of all sales would tend to
negate any very high bid on a single item as well as a very low bid on a
single item.
