Paul, you have an interesting pair of cameras that both have one thing in
common - they both have a bit of a reputation for lens flair. Lens hoods and
internal black mat are essential.

Some years ago several local owners fitted Nikon or Olympus lenses to their
F40s with the aim of reducing flair and improve image quality.

In P3D-3371, I mentioned that the Verascope F40 was first produced in the
spring of 1942.

I have a four page article from a 1940s edition of a British photographic
journal titled "European Progress in Stereoscopy" which reports the 1942
release of the Verascope F40. The article is well researched and has an
extensive Bibliography.

Early production numbers were said to be small. I will email you a short
'pdf' article on the F40 by one of our Sydney Stereo Camera Club members.
