Hi, Everyone,
Sounds like the convention was great. I'm looking forward to going to
one.
Here in Kansas City this past Saturday I attended the second meeting of
the new Kansas City Stereo Photographer's Club, hosted by John Baird.
I'm sure John will have a report, but I wanted to share my experience
with the group.
One of the members brought a TDC projector and I saw Realist format
slides projected for the first time. What an experience! They were
wonderful. I kept wanting to go up to the screen and look over the edge
of the "window" to see the rest of the scene! One slide was of the tail
of an airplane and I found myself leaning over to look around it.
I learned two things. 1. I must get a projector! My life will never
be complete without one now. :) 2. I must learn how to mount my
slides better.
When we put some of my own slides in the projector, I was shocked.
Compared to the others, they were flat and hard to view. They looked
great in a Realist Viewer, but they fell apart on the screen.
So now I understand what all the discussion about precision mounting is
about on P3d. I thought my slides were fine until they were projected.
I also understand how important associating with other 3d photographers
is now. My only contact with 3d has so far been on this list. As great
as that is, I would have never had such a graphic lesson in poor
mounting until this meeting. As embarrassed as I was, it was a
wonderful lesson. And one that will only make me a better photographer.
Thank you, John for providing such a great opportunity!
Now off to the archives to read everything I can about mounting!
