P3D Grettings from a new list member

Hello all,

I joined P3D a few weeks ago and have been lurking, searching some old
digests, and generally getting a feel for the list members. I'm very
impressed with the high level of discussion and knowledge base here.
The Internet proves itself again!

I've been producing 3D on and off for many years, starting with experiments
in anaglyph video (disastrous) in 1975. In the mid 80's I began working as
a consultant to 3DTV Corp. and learned about field sequential
stereo video. Some of their devices are based on my designs. I've done
some original work for museums creating a 3D virtual drawing system (based
on the Amiga, soon to be on the PC).

One of my more recent web projects was to take some of the work (some in
3-D) of my late friend Jim Pomeroy and make a web site showing his work. I
converted an old Bolex film he made using some 3D splitter attachment to
anaglyph, and a 120 image slide presentation with B/W stereo images side by
side to anaglyph, both using Real Video for presentation. Much of the 3D
was created via the ChaCha method, and some pretty bad examples are
evidenced, but the "Apollo Jest" piece is worth checking out at
www.jimpomeroy,com .

For years I did photography, and working on Jim's work inspired me to do
some of my own 3D still work. I bought a 3D Trio and worked with it for a
year or so, scanning the negatives with an HP Photoscanner, and working in
Photoshop to create crosseyed and anaglyphs. Recently I bought a Realist
3.5 on Ebay, re-adjusted the RF, and am working with it in the same way.
The results are good (but I always want better).

Here are a few questions. Sorry if they're repeats. (Nothing is new anymore...)

1. What is the best range of F Stops to use on the 3.5 Realist for the best
lens qualities. Somebody mentioned that F22 makes soft images?

2. Does any lab make Photo CD's directly from the Realist format negs or film?

3. What's the story with the Fed camera from Russia? Anybody like it? How
much should one pay for it?

Thanks all. Hope to meet you....in Phoenix.

e.t.
