P3D film scanner?

To buy myself off for not being able to get to Green Bay, I've decided to
get a scanner for my new PowerMac G3. I looked at a film scanner: Minolta
Dimage Scan Dual. Does anyone have any experience with this scanner? Can
the film or slide caddies be hacked to hold a realist format slide? Does it
make pretty pictures (I mean if fed pretty pictures)?
