P3D Re: New RBT mount / mask system

I too find the idea of RBT mounts with adjustable masking an exciting
idea! Working in prints for APEC has given me an appreciation for the
possibilities of changing window proportion and shape - so easy to do in
prints, but a pain with slides. As it happens, in the G-2 Gamma folio I
just finished writing comments for, I notice that I suggested cropping
images to improve composition or conceal flaws. It'd be great to get that
kind of creative control from one set of mounts, especially including a
reduced height option.
It does seem that views masked to less than the beveled frame size of an
RBT mount might look odd in a viewer (not in projection, since the bevel
is invisible then). Until RBT makes it easy, what are the best methods
for accurately masking in an RBT? Preferably that don't damage the film
chip with adhesive tapes.
