P3D stereo mount
I'm trying to make a mount for a pair of Canon QL-17 rangefinders. Mounting
them is straightforward enough, what i'm having trouble with is acoounting
for error on the right and left sides of each stereo frame. With my
existing mount the image starts and stops at different points b/c both
cameras are pointing directly forward. I am aware that by "towing in" the
lenses towards each other (1-5 degreees depending upon distance of subject)
the error can be negated. My problem is with the mechanical task of making
a mount that is easily adjusted and will allow me to load film, etc. I have
considered doing this: mounting the cmeras on separate pieces of aluminum
1/8" thick and the same width as the bottom of the camera, then
countersinking holes facing each other on the inside of this aluminum, then
putting springs in these countersinks, sandwiching the aluminum together
with loosely tightened bolts, then driving a screw between the two plates
which would adjust the angle of toe in by screwing in and out. Anyone got a
better idea/ Oh, yeah, I want the lenses to be 6-8cm apart. Preferably 6,
so the amount of space i have to work with is very limited. See the diagram
if I've confused you.

Also, Boris, sorry I'm going to miss the film festival and your exhibit, but
I'll be stuck here in Iowa. Any input appreciated by this 3-D novice.
