In P3D-3404 Greg Tank <tanker@xxxxxxxxxxxx> asked:
>Does anyone know of a source for the history of the Revere 33 and Wollensak
>cameras?
>What is the difference between the different Revere 33 versions?
>Some of you on the list talk about shutter/lens boards for sale....
Some brief info that may help.
The Revere 33 initial had the Wollensak Amaton f3.5 lenses. Later models had
Ennar Chromar f3.5 lenses. Both of these were of 3 element 'Cooke' type
lenses.
The Wollensak 10 had the superior f2.7 'Tessar' type 4 element Wollensak
Amaton lenses.
As the camera bodies are basically the same, many Revere owners fitted the
once readily available Wollensak lens boards to their Revere 33s.
It seems that lens board production was well ahead of camera production when
manufacture stopped. Most of the lens boards that I have seen have either
the Ennar Chromar f3.5 lenses or the Wollensak Amaton f2.7 lenses.
Incidentally the Wollensak has a 1/300sec higher shutter speed.
Now a question. Is the Revere with a Wollensak lens board a Wollenvere or a
Revensak?
Also, can someone out there email me a scanned version of the instruction
manual page with the outline of the camera and the names of the various
controls that I can use for an article that I am writing for our local
stereo club newsletter.
