For some of the newer members of the list, there was a number
of years ago a RAP cd released by "A Group Called Quest" (right?),
which had lenticular ridges etched into the CD case. They seemed
to come in several different versions - I saw vertical ridges,
horizontal ridges, and so forth. At one time I was considering
trying to use photoshop to interpolate two images (or maybe more)
into strips .01" wide and printing it on a dye-sub printer. You
could insert the print behind the lent CD case and MAYBE come up
with either a fluppy or stereo lenticular depending on which
way you looked at the case with vertical or horizontal ridges.
It would be pretty gross considering the size of the ridges, but
still it might be fun to experiment.
I never got around to doing it though. However, if one lived in a large
enough city, one might be able to find it in the "used cd" bin
at a fairly reasonable price. Myself, I bought one new and found
one used, gave the cd to a couple of my students and still have the
cases...
THANKS
