Two ways to make your camera sharper than you ever could have imagined:
1) Use a very sturdy tripod
2) Eliminate the use of UV or sky filters as lens protectors, even high
grade ones such as B+W and Heliopan.
(If there were a number three, it would probably be to shoot at f/11. Four:
a sun flag or truly effective lens hood.)
I didn't believe the filter thing myself until a tried controlled
experiments and the difference was obvious.
For protection, the best advice I can suggest is to keep your camera cased
until you shoot with it
