P3D Mac/3D

Here's part of a report I just got from the recently concluded
MacWorld convention...
=====================
HARDWARE

Hands down, the most impressive thing I saw was the Formac booth,
http://www.formac.com where a group of German-accented Formac reps wearing
3D glasses like some erzatz Sprockets show were wrapping the ubiquitous
StarWars trailer onto a 3D shape as a texture, and spinning and
manipulating it without dropping frames. We haven't had access to Formac's
products here in the states, but the distribution channels are lining up,
and I would highly recommend looking into these graphic accelerator cards,
processor upgrades and SCSI accelerators. They also had a few 3D glasses
with a synchronizor on one machine, running Doom at high speed in 3D. We
got a teenager to play and stood back and watched. Dizzyingly quick screen
draw, and the rep was explaining that any game written on the same engine
could be played that way. I was more interested in the news that their
cards use QuickDraw now, but are Open GL capable, ready for Apple to move
forward. My favorite machine was the 300mhz Blue and White with the 450mhz
upgrade, graphics accelerator card and trio of striped 9G drives laying in
the box.
