In digest 3419, Bob H writes, in part:
<<
...BUT not knowing history
adds confusion! SLIDE FILM SINCE DAY ONE WITH OR
WITHOUT MAILERS, HAS ALWAYS INCLUDED MOUNTING IN
THE PRICE AND LIKEWISE HAS ALLOWED NO CREDIT FOR
REQUESTING UNCUT AND UNMOUNTED. >>
I must take exception to this. I worked for R*** Camera from 1979 through
1991. In the earlier years of my retail experience it was quite common, even
for mass market labs like Kodak, to charge a lower rate for unmounted slides.
This practice has become rare in the mass market but is still quite common
from pro/custom labs (like A&I). I just had two rolls processed through a
small, local lab (Washington, DC) and paid $6.04 per roll for sleeved, uncut,
unmounted 36 exp E6.
