<< I did talk to the people at Kodak Lerner in Minneapolis, and they
say
that it *is* OK to send mailers directly to them, with the extra $9.
Send to Kodak Lerner, 1201 W Broadway, Minneapolis, MN 55411
(800-377-7861) Yes, the main office in Fair Lawn says not to do that,
but it would probably be worth trying. Or confirm yourself by talking to

Minneapolis. I also am still having some of my stuff that has gone in
via
New Jersey end up in Maryland. I am reserving judgement for now on which
is the
better lab (Minneapolis or Maryland), but mounting errors have gotten
really bad lately, at least the 20% that someone else quoted, and also
some sloppy cutting. It is usually hard to tell which lab is doing the
work because they usually are routed back through NJ again. When the
rest of the film I already sent in from a recent vacation comes back, I
will see if I can draw any conclusions. -Linda >>

All these high prices quoted here on the list and in the latest issure
of Dalia's magazine have me confused. We use the local drug/chain store
in Nevada called Target drugstore. Last week I got a letter from the
local Cualex plant (from inside a package of processed slides picked up
at Target). The representative wrote under a Cualex leterhead in answer
to my inquiry saying that my specific local Target sends all film marked
for "Kodak Premium Processing to them (Cualex) and then if it is
Kodachrome they (Cualex) forward it to Kodak somewhere for "Kodak
Premium Processing". Anyway it takes about a month to get a stereo slide
order back from whenever we drop them off at Target.

Doing it that way, the total charge for developing and mounting
Kodachrome is $6.79 for a 36 exposure roll, (28 realist format stereo
pairs). Last year it was $5.69. That is the grand total price, not an
"extra" price, we don't buy mailers but instead just use the free paper
ones found at the photo desk iniside the store. This year we've had many
rolls Kodachrome developed/mounted at this price and have used Target as
a drop off point for years, since way back somewhere when that Target
store had a different name. Perhaps we have been saving almost $10 per
roll for identical processing at the same plant for all those years?
