P3D Nu-View 3-D video question
- From: penultimate@xxxxxxxxx

I have only subscribed to this these listings for about two weeks, and
have never seen a posting re: the TAKING of 3-D video, but hopefully
there may be another user of the Nu-View 3-D attachment out there who
can relate to my problem.
I can live with the flicker caused by the refresh rate of the
field-sequential system, but there is another problem that is quite
annoying at times. The attachment handles random polarized light
differently in the left and right images. This is most noticeable on
surfaces that reflect the sky (e.g. a body of water or a car
windshield). The net result is no reflection (of the sky) on one side,
and total reflection of it on the other. This results in a retinal
rivalry effect that can be intense enough to destroy the 3-D effect
entirely.
The manufacturer suggested that I buy a sheet polarizer from Edmund
Scientific and place it over the attachment, but that would reduce the
light even more than the two stops or so that are lost by the attachment
alone.
Has anyone had experience with this situation?
Duke
