P3D Kodachrome VS. E6

This is in response to George's letter pitting the life expectancy of his
images from Kodachrome against E6 films. George and I have been chatting
back and forth for the last couple of weeks. He has been a great help to me
so this is nothing personal against George. I would like to put my
experience in this matter out on the table.

I started shooting stereo with an Oldens 2.8 Realist in 1969. I took this
camera across America ...filming the National parks as well as roadside
attractions. I was fresh out of high school and the world was at my feet.
My ammunition was a brick of Kodachrome and some Ektachrome and Agfachrome
thrown in.........................flash to 1999.................Bringing out
my slides...I have at least 1000 of more, the Kodachromes are positively
stunning! The colors and density are as they were just processed. I am
very sorry to say that all the E6 slides are just about worthless. Some
have nothing but the red dyes left...some just the blue.

I pulled out my dads Kodachromes from the 50's...are trip to Kansas
City...and these were just as beautiful as ever. Now I know they have
improved the E6 longevity...but I am not going to trust them until I see
some definite proof. I would hate to leave this world not knowing if the
thousands of scenes from my life will be appreciated by future
generations...or thrown out with newspaper lining the bottom of the bird
cage.

First snow, then silence.
This thousand dollar screen dies
so beautifully.
