P3D Re: Realist to VM to HuMaster
Gary Dineen is dreaming of an enlarged View-Master (HuMaster?) reel
to accommodate full frame stereo slides. Can you just imagine how
large this reel would be? It would make storage and transportation
of stereo images much more difficult.

What is attractive is the concept of working with full frame images.
What we need first is an inexpensive stereo camera that will give
full frame stereo images. Then we can redesign the stereo mount
to better accommodate the full frame images, including vertical
format.
Actually a better concept that comes close to what Gary is thinking,
is the 3Discover format. The pairs are stored in a continuous strip
of film that runs from one side to the other. All we need is a
camera that will record this format (with the R/L transposed on the
film or through a simple duplication process).
But I am (almost) convinced that the next commercial successful stereo
system will be based on digital images not film.
