P3D Kodachrome 200!

Hi!

I'll start by saying that, for scenery, I find Kodachrome 64 very
useful. It brings in the detail in distant objects. I'm sure 25
does even better, but I guess I just like dark shadows on bike
trails, etc. too much to try it again!

But after nearly a roll of frustration of shooting 64 down in the
range of 1/4 to 1/8 second (Olympus OM-10, beamsplitter), I got back a
roll of Kodachrome 200 from my Nimslo today. It was mostly people
pictures, shot in deep twilight and with window light indoors, without
flash, plus some shots in morning "cloudy bright" conditions.

I didn't have a single shot with motion blur, and the Nimslo gave
me exposures that were right on. I know the lower limits of the
camera at 1/30 and f/5.6, and kept within them.

I'm delighted as I always have been with the accurate colors,
_without filter_. I got hundreds of nice shots with Kodachrome 64
before 200 was introduced, but they were all with an 81A filter.
Shooting today, I find that I don't like the 64 colors, even
with the filter, as well as the 200 without.

It's like having Kodachrome II (ISO 25) with three stops more
speed! (Yes, I know that Kodachrome II was much finer-grained
and sharper, but the colors and the "look" are the same.)
