I am not shure whether you mean stereoscopic 3D as usualy understood in
this group or the computer terminology because of your reference to 3D
scanners.
Assuming sterescopic virtual reality is what is required, at the 93 ISU
congress a 360 degree panoramic stereo camera was being demonstrated in the
trade area. This rotated in the centre of a room for instance and used two
rolls of 36 frame 35mm at a time to take a stereo pair of panoramic views .
There was a special viewer which had a motor to scan the rolls so that the
view changed apropriately as the viewers head moved . Probably the strips
could be scanned in sone way to produce VR information. They did not seem
interested in quoting prices and the intention seemed to be to hire the
equipment out or do it for the customer . There is some literature about it
around which I can try to find if you think this is relevant. If stereo is
not required then any 360 degree panoramic camera may do the job.
