I'm with you regarding the wonderful qualities of the format and the
wonderful performance of Alan's viewer, but you loose me on the Sputnik as
an overachiever...

This camera is the weak link in the chain and provides system performance
just marginally above the best of the 7 perf stereos! If there was an
alternative, we would all flock to it and in fact talented guys like Greg
Erker and Sam Smith have gone to great lengths to try work with better rigs
and find a better way...

Is the Spud acceptable on a tripod at f/22? Sure. But seeing as you can get
better results (acknowledging with much more inconvenience) with twin TLRs
on a bar for less money, it's hard for me to think of the Sputnik in terms
of over-performance...
