P3D Back from trip with 43 rolls!
Hi Everyone!
Just came back from our two week vacation which included
lots of hours in airports, a few days in Athens, Greece,
one week in the island of Lefkada (in the Ionian sea,
between Greece and Italy), and one day in Paris, in the
way back.
>From these two weeks I am bringing back 43 rolls of film.
Now, I know many of you wonder about this amount of film
consumption. How is it possible? Well, anything is possible
when you visit beautiful places in a very short period of
time.
When I was young, in our composition books at school I remember
reading this: "Sorry that this letter is too long but I did not
have the time to make it shorter." I found this fascinating.
The apparent contradiction... Did not have time to make the letter
shorter? But given more time you make the letter longer, right?
Well, not exactly... If you have the time, you carefully pick
your words and make the letter shorter but more dense in content.
The same is true in photography: I took all these pictures because
I did not have the time to take less. Imagine this: I am in
a two hour tour in Paris. I only have two hours to see the
wonderful sites that this city offers. What do I do? I shoot
like crazy, of course! If I had more time, I would first
carefully study my subject, the different angles of view that
it can be approached, the times of the day that give the most
effective lighting and then, after careful planning shoot just
the good pictures. With careful planning it is possible in one
week to take less pictures than I took in two hours... and come up
with much better photographs.
Will let you know how these pictures turned out when I get the
film back and start mounting it.
