P3D 3d Awareness

The fact that 3d existed long before ViewMaster is
brought out in this movie is a good thing. I doubt that the general public
realizes this.

I'm not so sure about this. The Holmes stereo viewer is enough of a
cultural icon that most people who think about it at all think of stereo as
being around long before the View-Master.

Those who think about it at all may be a very small group. I know that when
I first started showing my Loreo stereo pictures, and now ones I take with a
Realist, people are absolutely stunned. They seem shocked that it can be
done at all, that it's something just invented, not a technique known and
practiced since the beginning of photography. They seem to think of
ViewMaster as some sort of gimmick for children. I suppose we'll never
really know how widespread the history of 3d is really known unless someone
takes a poll on the subject.
