Granted, if you make an overt and deliberate attempt to see things out of
focus, you can certainly prove that the eyes do not always see everything
sharp. However, it is our tendency to avoid these situations for most of
the time. You will shift and make tiny adjustements automatically to avoid
seeing fuzzy images. You usually are not aware that you  do it, you make
minute changes on a subcoinscience level. With a stereo image, it is a bit
different. There is no opportunity to re-focus so if the image is fuzzy,
you can't correct it. A scene is usually sharp from foreground to
background when you use your eyes, but not necessarily so when
photographed.
