P3D Grain ?

I'm not sure I understand this " grain" thread. Perhaps others can
comment on their experiences. As a general rule, reversal print film
should respond opposite to slide film. An underexposed print neg is
translucent and thin, the print appears grainy. An underexposed slide is
just the opposite, the film is dark and dense with less apparent grain.
( even in a lighted viewer) Overexposed print film appears very dark
with little grain. Slide film appears thin and washed out with increases
in grain. Almost every slide I have overexposed appears grainer. This
holds true for Agfa, fuji and E6 Kodak films I've tried. If I'm not
seeing " grain" in my overexposed slides, then what am I experiencing?
This apparent grain is seen in slides 1 stop overexposed. I'm sure I
wouldn't see any grain if I overexposed....say..5-6 stops...I'd be
seeing the viewers diffuser. :-)

Thanks for the explanation Bob.....but are you saying a slide cannot
look grainy?
