Mark DOTTLE WROTE:
What am I telling you the advantages of a Realist while I own an X4?
Because, for folks out there considering an RBT, the camera is not the
panacea to all of your stereo desires, but rather another very nice tool
for your toolbox. Evaluate your equipment, determine the advantages and
disadvantages and consider your needs from there. I love the X4...don't
know how I made it this far without one.:-) But my Realist shares equal
footing so far. I have images from both cameras that are great!

_______
Mark....very good points, I totally agree, and one more reason to add why a Realist ....or Realist format (or even 7 perf Belplasca or Veriscop format) by another brand name camera, is in some cases, more appropriate to use...than a full frame RBT camera....or alike....
Composition: Sometimes a full frame ratio (as in most RBT models) is a waste of film....so why not use the closer-to-square format of a Realist instead.....more efficient use of film as well here.

I even like the half frame format of the deWijs MACRO attachments.....when shooting small objects.....otherwise shooting full frame MACRO is an even more extreme way to waste film.

Despite the allure of automation and convenience of modern camera options the RBT family of cameras make possible.......I still use my Realist, and have a Belplasca that I am just getting used to.....and I dont hang on to these fine 50's pieces because of the shelf collecting factor, because I dont collect cameras...I use them!
